Catholic priests, seminarians bike for religious vocational awareness

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Two Catholic priests and three seminarians will be biking through Charleston on Saturday afternoon as part of Biking 4 Vocations to raise awareness for religious vocations.
Charleston marks one stop on their 1400 mile journey from Saint Augustine, Florida to Rockville Centre, Long Island, New York.
The trip is expected to take 29 days, taking them through eleven states, ten dioceses, and five archdioceses.
Reverend Joseph Fitzgerald is the Director of Vocations for the Diocese of Rockville Centre, and a former member of the 1996 Olympic handball team. The other participants are Father Marc Swartvagher from the Diocese of Brooklyn, seminarian Stephen Rooney from the Diocese of Rockville Centre, seminarian Dominik Wegiel from the Diocese of Brooklyn, and seminarian Steven Diaz from the Archdiocese of New York.
According to a press release, they plan to stop at Drexel House, located at 34 Wentworth Street. On Sunday they will attend Mass. On Monday morning, they will continue biking north towards New York.
