Donations to Emanuel Hope Fund pass $1M mark

More than one million dollars in donations have been raised for the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund.

As of Noon on Wednesday, the total raised was nearly $1.7 million.

The fund was created to help the families of the Emanuel 9, the nine victims shot to death inside the Mother Emanuel AME Church on June 17.

The money will be used to cover funeral expenses of the victims and remaining funds will go to the church itself.

Donations are still be accepted. To donate, text 'prayforcharleston' to (843) 606-5995. After texting to the number, you will be able to enter your name and donation amount. You will then be sent a receipt for your payment. This number is for texting only, and contributions cannot be made by calling. You can also make a donation online or by mailing a check to:

Cash and check donations can also be made by going into any Wells Fargo bank branch in Charleston and donating to the "Mother Emanuel Hope Fund." In the memo field, note that the check is to donate to the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund.
