SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say a Summerville Police officer was arrested for assaulting a woman.

The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office charged Pleas Challie Faglie III with first-degree assault and battery.

On Sunday night, deputies responded to a home on Martins Creek Boulevard in Summerville for a report of a possible assault.

The Summerville Police Department had requested the sheriff's office respond since the suspect involved was a Summerville police officer; SPD officials said Faglie was not on duty at the time of the incident.

An affidavit states Faglie forced a 34-year-old woman against the wall, bruising her arm, and tried to kiss her to which the victim said "no."

Authorities say Faglie then began to forcibly fondle and kiss the victim on her mouth and breast.

According to a police report, a juvenile, who was a witness, said he was pushed during the incident. Police reported that officers also took statements from another juvenile.

Officials with the Summerville Police Department say Faglie was fired from the department following his arrest.

Faglie received a $20,000 bond on Monday.
