FOLLY BEACH, SC (WCSC) - Police announced on Monday that investigators are now looking for two suspects in connection to an assault on Folly Beach that left a woman with severe injuries.
Officials with the Folly Beach Police Department say they believe that the July 18 assault started when two men fought the victim's boyfriend and a another man.
According to investigators, Michelle Runde may have been trying to break up the fight when she was thrown to the pavement.
Detectives are urging any witnesses or people with cell phone video of the attack to come forward with information on the suspects.
Authorities say the assault happened around 2 a.m. in the area of East Arctic Avenue.
That's when she was attacked.
"They told me I was punched in the face, then picked up and my face was slammed on to the ground," Runde said last week.
Runde said she suffered a concussion and memory loss.
The next thing she knew, Runde was in intensive care at MUSC.
Charges were dropped against a man who was originally arrested in connection with the assault.
Police say that man was picked out of a photo lineup but they say he did not commit the crime.
