Detectives release surveillance photos of wanted James Island thief
JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Detectives in Charleston County have released pictures of a man wanted for stealing a woman's credit cards and using them to buy various merchandise.
The victim told investigators with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office that someone stole her wallet either on July 23 or 24 at her place of her work at a Kangaroo convenience store on James Island.
The victim's credit card was used after she initially reported the theft on July 25, and her credit card was also used on July 24 at multiple locations.
According to CCSO authorities, two large transactions in the amount of $17,999.99 and $10,800.80 did not go through but three smaller purchases were successfully completed.
"At the Walmart on Folly Road, the suspect purchased $78.72 worth of salmon and shrimp and appears to have arrived in a tan or gold in color van with a possible paper tag," authorities said."At the Publix on Folly Road, the suspect purchased $126.92 worth of cigarettes."
CCSO officials describe the suspect as a middle aged black male that used reading glasses during the transactions.
