GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - Berkeley County deputies arrested 13 people Friday night in a prostitution sting.

Sheriff Duane Lewis said 11 men were arrested for solicitation and two others on drug charges.

One more suspect is being sought.

The sheriff said the sting was conducted on Redbank Road in Goose Creek. According to the sheriff, two female deputies posed as prostitutes for the operation.

"They were in the area and were approached by all these individuals and solicited them for sex," Lewis said.

Lewis said during his campaign for sheriff, he received lots of complaints about prostitution and other crimes along Redbank Road.

"Some of them were really scared about what they're seeing in that area and we;re gonna go after those issues and tackle them as best as we can."

Maryetta Hoover works at a store in Creek Bank Plaza.

Hoover says she's seen prostitutes right outside her door.

"They will actually go out to cars, you can hear the transaction and the girls saying that she wants money," Hoover said.

Solicitation for prostitution is a magistrates offense that carries a 30 day jail sentence or a fine of $1,050.
