MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - The Cooper River Bridge Run 2016 design was unveiled in Mount Pleasant on Wednesday.

Gabe Marshall of Augusta, Ga. won the design contest with his piece which will be featured on t-shirts, posters and all materials for the race held on Saturday, April 2, 2016.

"This was a very fun project to work on and I'm so honored to be a part of the tradition," said Marshall who is a professional graphic designer and illustrator."I feel very grateful and always humbled when it comes to receiving awards and recognitions. With that said, thank you very much to the entire community of Charleston, SC in regards to the Cooper River Bridge 10K Run and everyone that voted for my winning design."

Marshall will also receive $1000 and Cooper River Bridge Run merchandise.

"The winning design was revealed at a private ceremony on August 19, 2015 at Alhambra Hall," officials said."All of the other 56 eligible design entries were auctioned off to benefit the Bridge Run's deserving charities."

According to race officials, Marshall's design was determined through a People's Choice voting process, and a private voting with a panel of CRBR sponsors, local dignitaries, and running enthusiasts.

"We look forward to the design contest each year," said Julian Smith, Executive Director of The Cooper River Bridge Run."It is a pleasure to give the design and running community this unique opportunity. There were so many incredible designs that were submitted this time; it was difficult for the panel to make a choice. We want to thank everyone who submitted their artwork, and give a big 'Congratulations' to Gabe Marshall for his winning design."
