NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A North Charleston Hotel is facing a lawsuit after a baseball player from Georgia says he was assaulted by older team members during a trip with his team in June.
According to the lawsuit, six varsity members of the Parkview High School baseball team are accused of assaulting, hazing and sexually exploiting younger teammates at the North Charleston Hyatt Place hotel.
The suit claims the hotel should be held responsible because an employee gave a key card to the senior players who were able to get into the room where younger players were staying.
The lawsuit is asking for more than $500,0000 for pain, suffering, and the need for ongoing counseling.
A spokeswoman for Hyatt said the company does not comment on pending litigation.
The Gwinett County School Police did forward a police report to North Charleston police.
According to the North Charleston report, the parents of the victims were contacted, and didn't want to pursue the matter with law enforcement.
