NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston County Sheriff's deputies are looking for whoever drove up to a store parking lot and started shooting.

It happened yesterday at the A-1 Food Store at Ranger Drive and Dorchester Road in Charleston County.

Bits of crime scene tape could be seen on the ground outside the store Monday afternoon.

Shortly before 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Charleston County Sheriff's deputies say a car pulled up on Ranger Drive next to the store and started shooting at people in the parking lot.

One witness said she was sitting inside her car scratching off lottery tickets when the shooting happened.

She saw children running in every direction. She says she ducked her head and hid in her car, until she was able to make it back in the store to safety.

Another witness says he was parked in the store lot when the shooting happened.

He immediately searched for his son and pulled him to safety inside the store.

A sheriff's report stated his truck was hit by a bullet, shattering his window.

A 35-year-old man was also hit by a bullet while standing in a yard about 75 yards away. According to the report, he was talking with some people inside of a car when he said he was shot. Those individuals inside the car told officials they didn't see or hear any gunshots.

Sheriff's deputies are trying to determine exactly where the man was when he shot.

A relative of that man said he is out of the hospital and doing okay.

A report states he was shot in the side.

The Sheriff's Office has taken the video surveillance from the store as evidence.

A spokesperson says it will be released in the near future.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (843) 554-1111 or the Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch Center at (843) 743-7200.
