ORLANDO, FL - South Carolina women's golfer Katelyn Dambaugh carded the low round (65, 7-under) of the day at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate on Sunday at Reunion Resort's Watson Course. The junior standout and the Gamecocks stand in a tied for sixth place following day one of the tournament after firing a 286 (2-under).

Dambaugh opened the tournament with eight birdies, starting on the par-four second. She tallied five birdies on the front nine and made the turn at 4-under before registering birdies on No. 13, 14 and 17. The Goose Creek, S.C., native stands two shots clear of the field following Sunday's performance.

Sarah Schmelzel (T14) marked the other Gamecock under par, as the senior recorded a 2-under (70). She birdied two of her first three holes, and tallied her final birdie of the day on No. 10 after making the turn at 2-under.

Sophomore Ainhoe Olarra (T41) finished the day at 2-over (74) and recorded two birdies in the first round, while junior Jia Xin Yang (T50) opened her tournament with a 5-over (77). Freshman Isi Nilsson shot an 8-over (80) and ended the day in a tie for 57th.

Southern California sits atop the leaderboard after opening with a 276 (-12). Duke (277, -11) and Texas A&M (278, -10) round out the top three following the conclusion of the first day.


The Gamecocks are back on the course on Monday morning when they continue play at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate.
