Copy-NOPD arrests suspect in Tulane medical student shooting
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans police and the U.S. Marshals Service arrested the Tulane medical student shooting suspect Monday morning in the Milan neighborhood.
Euric Cain, 21, was picked at a home in the 2200 block of Delechaise Street at 11:30 a.m.
Cain is wanted for Attempted First Degree Murder, Second Degree Kidnapping and Armed Robbery.
Police say Cain shot the medical student just before 4 a.m. on Nov. 20 at the intersection of Magazine Street and St. Mary Street.
The shooting gained national attention after the NOPD released surveillance video of the gunman dragging a woman and then shooting the 25-year-old medical student in his stomach. After shooting him once, he aimed the gun at the victim's head and tried to shoot him three more times. His gun appeared to jam each time.
Both victims were taken to the hospital by EMS after the incident. The female victim was treated for minor injuries and released.
Tulane University announced Saturday that it was offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of Cain.
The shooting victim remains in the hospital. He is expected to recover from his injuries.
