ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Investigators in Orangeburg County have arrested a 51-year-old man accused of a fatal shooting this past weekend.
The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office arrested Michael Green of Orangeburg.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said a 48-year-old man was shot during what witnesses described as an argument that happened at a Belleville Road residence.
Witnesses told investigators that they heard arguing only moments before a shot rang out.
When they went to check on the gunfire, they found the victim on the dining room floor.
"Apparently there was a brief argument between two men when one of them pulled out a handgun and shot the other in the chest," the sheriff said. "We have a suspect in custody and a warrant has already been obtained for him."
The warrant states Green shot the victim a single time in the chest.
Ravenell said an arraignment for Green has tentatively been set for 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday where the Orangeburg man will formally be charged with murder.
A motive has not been determined at this time, the sheriff said.
The sheriff's office is continuing the investigation.
