COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Summerville High School's head baseball coach remembered the 17-year-old student athlete who was killed in a crash early Wednesday morning.
Glenn Forrest "Tripp" Rabon, Jr., was killed in the accident in the 8100-block of Charleston Highway near Ritter Road in Colleton County, according to the Colleton County Coroner's Office. The crash was reported at 5:06 a.m.
Summerville High School Head Baseball Coach Banks Faulkner tweeted Wednesday after learning of Rabon's death:
Hours later, Faulkner tweeted he would always remember Rabon as "smiling and happy:"
Rabon was also mentioned in a tweet from the Summerville Green Wave Baseball Twitter account:
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, a vehicle carrying four people and towing a boat ran off the right side of the road, overturned and hit a tree. The vehicle was traveling westbound.
Officials with Highway Patrol say Rabon was sitting in the back seat and was not wearing a seat belt. The three others in the vehicle were taken to an area hospital, but their conditions were not immediately available.
