NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A 16-year-old has been charged with murder for a shooting at a North Charleston Walmart parking lot that killed one person.

The North Charleston Police Department arrested 16-year-old Zarmell Polite and charged him with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in connection with the death of 18-year-old Larry Grayer of North Charleston.

Officers also charged 18-year-old Deandre Montel Stevens and 17-year-old Aliya Young with armed robbery.

NCPD investigators say Grayer along with two other people arranged a meeting at the Walmart on 7400 Rivers Avenue to meet Polite to sell him marijuana and to rob him.

"During the attempted robbery, Polite and an occupant inside of the vehicle began shooting at each other as the vehicle attempts to leave the parking lot," NCPD officials say.

According to investigators, Grayer was struck by Polite and transported to Roper Northwoods by Stevens and Young, who were in the vehicle with him.

Grayer later died of his injuries at 3:55 p.m.

A witness told investigators that they saw a white Range Rover speed off from the scene after the shooting.

Officers also located four shell casings from the scene.
