Victim identified in deadly overnight Hollywood shooting

HOLLYWOOD, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is investigating an overnight shooting that has left one person dead, and injured another.

Shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday, Charleston County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to a club on Scott-White Road to investigate a report of a shooting. Investigators learned a gunshot victim was taken to a home on SC Highway 162, according to the incident report.

Deputies went to the address provided and found a gunshot victim lying on the ground, the report states. Deputies say the victim, later identified as Devante Smiley, 23, was transported to St. Francis Hospital where he later died.

A second gunshot victim was driven to St. Francis Hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound to the leg.

The motive for the shooting is unknown and no suspects have been identified.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
