WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Deputies are still seeking clues about a deadly shooting Friday at a West Ashley barber shop.

According to an incident report, deputies responded to Marvin's Barber Shop on Savage Road at approximately 10:22 a.m. and found one victim suffering gunshot wounds to the upper right arm and upper right chest.

That victim was transported to an area hospital where he later died, according to Charleston County Sheriff's Lt. Rita Zelinsky.

A witness description of a man seen running from the scene indicates the gunman may have been a black male between 25 and 30 years old, approximately 5'9" in height, weighing 170 pounds and wearing a black shirt and camouflage pants, the report states.

Witnesses told deputies the man was running on Savage Road toward Etiwan Avenue. A search by a K9 deputy did not turn up any clues, Zelinsky said.

Friday afternoon, deputies released a surveillance image showing a person of interest standing next to a vehicle outside the barber shop that was taken near the scene at around the time of the incident, but they later identified and cleared that person.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective B. Goldstein at (843) 670-1183 or Crime Stoppers at (843) 554-1111. You can also submit a tip by visiting the Charleston County Sheriff's Office website at
