Emergency warming shelters opening due to cold weather

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Emergency warming shelters will be opening this weekend due to the cold weather expected to hit the Lowcountry.

Saturday night January 23 and Sunday night January 24, the Aldersgate United Methodist Church on Remount Road in North Charleston will be open.

That shelter opens at 7 p.m. and a hot meal, showers, and a bed will be provided.

The shelter will close the next morning at 7 a.m.

Carta is offering free transportation to and from the shelter using bus route 13.

Ridge Baptist Church in Summerville will also open an emergency warming shelter for the nights of January 23 and the 24.

A bed and a hot meal will be provided to guests here as well.
