BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Crews with Berkeley Electric Cooperative are heading to the Upstate to assist with the snow storm.

According to officials, crews were sent Friday afternoon to assist Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative in Pickens with over 4,000 outages caused by Winter Storm Jonas.

"The co-op sent two line crews, three service crews, a right-of-way crews and mechanic for a total of nineteen employees and ten vehicles," officials said.

Officials with the Berkeley Electric Cooperative say crews will assist through the weekend and possibly travel to North Carolina and Virginia to help other electric companies.

"One of the guiding principles among electric cooperatives is "Cooperation among Cooperatives" because cooperatives serve their members most effectively and strengthen the cooperative movement by working together. Around this time last year, Berkeley Electric crews visited Blue Ridge Electric twice to assist them with outages caused by winter storms."
