CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Charleston County detectives are investigating after a man's body was found inside a home on Johns Island.
Officials with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office say the body of 35-year-old Jason Arion was found inside a home on Main Road on the morning of Jan. 22.
Detectives are investigating Arion's death as a homicide.
According to CCSO officials, Arion's death appears to be suspicious and foul play has not been ruled out.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 843.554.1111 or Consolidated Dispatch at 843.743.7200 and ask for the on-call detective.
Two deputies had responded to Arion's home for a welfare check after Arion's mother had not heard from her son for a couple of days, and his phone was not turned on. CCSO officials say they had been told he suffered from PTSD.
When deputies arrived they knocked on the door but no one answered, and a dog was heard barking inside the home.
Deputies reported that they looked in the residence's windows but nothing out of the ordinary was seen. A deputy then checked to see if the doors were secured and discovered that the front door was unlocked.
According to deputies, due to Arion suffering from PTSD, it was decided that they would go inside to check on Arion. Animal Control was then requested at the scene.
After the dog was secured by one of the deputies, authorities found Arion lying in bed who had "obvious signs of death."
A Ford pick-up truck parked in front of the residence was towed to the forensics compound to be processed.
