CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Trident Urban League (CTUL) is again partnering with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to provide free tax preparation assistance.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, better known as VITA, kicks off this weekend.
Starting Saturday, people who qualify can have their tax returns done for free.
VITA offers free tax help to people who make up to $60,000, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and limited English speaking taxpayers.
According to CTUL President and CEO Otha Meadows, "VITA is such a valuable resource to our community. We want all individuals who qualify for the program to take advantage of all the available tax credits that most of us are unaware of. There is absolutely no need to pay for tax preparation help when it is available for free."
The VITA kickoff will celebrate Earned Income Tax Credit Day. Both take place on Saturday.
Bring you picture ID, Social Security Card, and all tax documents.
Saturday, January 30
