Millennials think the Holy City deserves more love, according to a public poll posted by Ranker.com.
Overall, Kansas City, Missouri came out as the nation's most underrated city according to the results of more than 18,500 votes.
But a deeper dive into the numbers indicates Charleston, which ranked second place overall, is a particular favorite of younger voters, according to a release from the site.
The millennial generation is generally defined by researchers as being made up of people born between the early 1980s to the early 2000s, though there's no precise definition that everyone agrees on.
Besides Charleston, Portland, Oregon; Boulder, Colorado; Pittsburgh, San Antonio and Baltimore also ranked high among millennials.
Great architectural landmarks, neighborhoods filled with unique restaurants, shopping and nightlife, and exciting career opportunities for entrepreneurs and millennials are among the reasons cities made the list, the release states.
"Some of the USA's most underrated cities have just as much to offer, without the hassle of millions of people and tons of traffic," the site states. "For travelers who want to experience some of the best towns America has to offer, there's no better place than these oft-neglected gems."
The next closest city to Charleston that made the overall top 10 is Savannah.
