Parking could be a challenge with two big weekend events in N. Charleston
. - The North Charleston Coliseum is expecting 45,000 people to attend this weekend's shows, a number that could mean major traffic headaches and parking problems in the area.
"If you're coming Saturday, that's going to be a tough day," Melanie Quick, coliseum marketing manager, said. "We have two back to back Garth Brooks shows as well as our Aladdin show at the performing arts center. Friday won't be as bad, but we have different parking details depending on what day you're coming. Our top priority is to get everyone safely in and out of our facilities this weekend."
Coliseum parking lots open at noon Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and are expected to fill fast.
Overflow will be sent to off-site lots at Boeing on International Blvd and South Aviation Avenue or CARTA lots at 3680 W. Montague Avenue. Shuttles will transport people to and from the coliseum.
"We're asking attendees for the 7 p.m. show leave the Coliseum as soon as the show is over and assist our clean-up efforts by disposing of their trash as they exit," Coliseum and Performing Arts Center Director Alan Coker said in a statement. "Doors are expected to open at 10 p.m. for the late show but due to the nature of double header shows, doors may open later."
Ticket holders for the Saturday Garth Brooks 10:30 p.m. performance will be directed to park in the Tanger lots starting at 9 p.m. Saturday.
Parking is $5 (cash only) for all lots. No overnight parking allowed. For additional information and parking map, visit www.NorthCharlestonColiseumPAC.com.
