Resolution declaring June 17 as 'Mother Emanuel 9 Day' moving forward

CHARLESTON, SC (AP/WCSC) - A resolution declaring June 17 as "Mother Emanuel 9 Day" is moving forward.
The Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously approved the resolution on Tuesday.
The House approved it three weeks ago.
It honors the nine victims of the shooting at Emanuel AME Church last summer.

The victims included Sen. Clementa Pinckney, the church's pastor.
The state is seeking the death penalty against accused shooter Dylann Roof.
His trial is set to begin this Summer.
