WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say two men were taken to the hospital after being shot at a West Ashley home Wednesday night.

According to the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, the incident happened at a home in the 800 block of Hoss Road in the Ponderosa subdivision.

A victim told deputies a fight started after a one of the victims knocked on the other one's door. Shots were eventually fired.

Maj. Eric Watson with the sheriff's office said the relationship between the two men is not known at this time.

Authorities say shell casings were found on Hoss Road which is near Bonanza Road off off Highway 17.

Dispatch officials say they received an emergency call about the incident at 8:45 p.m.

As they responded, officers asked residents of Hoss Road to park outside of the crime tape and walk to their home.

Nearby residents reported hearing multiple emergency vehicles responding to the area.

"I was sitting in my living room and saw a firetruck pass my home, then roughly around 10 city cops, along with sheriff's passing by," said Kelly Rule who lives nearby."I assumed that a shooting had occurred due to the emergency vehicles passing my home or possibly a domestic situation. I counted at least 20 cops/sheriffs pass by with only three ambulances so I knew it wasn't a car accident."

One week ago, authorities responded to the same house for an incident where a man was shot.

Officials said the man was shot in the abdomen with a small caliber handgun.

Authorities have not identified any suspects in that case.
