Summerville man sentenced to life in prison for criminal sexual conduct with minor

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - James Archie Crews, IV, 47, of Summerville was convicted today of criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the first degree.

The jury deliberated for an hour and a half before returning a guilty verdict for sexually assaulting a 9 year old over a two year period.

Crews was sentenced him to life in prison for the offense.

The case was Investigated by Detective Nick Santanna with the Summerville Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant Solicitor Sheila Mims and Assistant Solicitor Phil Giese of the Dorchester County Solicitor's Office.

"I am very proud of the hard work and effort put into this case by my attorneys. These cases are very difficult to prosecute with their own unique challenges. I also want to thank the court and jury for ensuring justice was done in this case," said First Circuit Solicitor David Pascoe.
