MCCLELLANVILLE, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County School District superintendent told residents and constituent school board members she planned to call for the closure of a McClellanville school.
Supt. Dr. Gerrita Postlewait said she planned to recommend Lincoln Middle-High School close its doors after the current school year, according to CCSD spokesman Daniel Head.
Postlewait said she will propose the closure to the Charleston County School Board at a special meeting scheduled for Monday.
The move would help address a large budget shortfall the district is facing, he said.
Head said he knows of no other schools Postlewait will suggest be closed at Monday's meeting.
According to its website, the school has an enrollment of 169 students in grades 7-12.
