"The items were found in his book bag about 2 p.m. He is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon on school property and simple possession of marijuana," CPD officials said."He is being held in the Juvenile Detention Center on Leeds Avenue."

CPD officials said the student was late getting to class and school officials said he smelled of marijuana as he walked through the hallway.

"A school official searched his book bag and found the weapon and marijuana," police said."The school was briefly placed on lockdown."

The school was put into a code yellow lockdown as a precaution while the school's resource officer called in additional law enforcement officers, school officials said.
