SCHP investigating after shooting victim wrecks car

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating after a man suffering a gunshot wound crashed his car in downtown Charleston.

Police say the incident happened around 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

According to a report from the Charleston Police Department, the person was shot on Nassau at Reid Street. Officers heard four to five gunshots before seeing a silver Hyundai Sonata flee the scene at high speed.

The victim then drove down to Calhoun Street at Pitt, where he crashed the car.

It's not clear if the victim was shot while in their car, or got into their vehicle after being shot.
