NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Crime Stoppers is offering a $9,500 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects in the shooting death of an Ohio man in North Charleston.
The reward is regarding the events that happened on May 30 shortly after midnight when 35-year-old Barri Shank from Bay Village, Ohio, and his wife pulled into the parking lot of the Hyatt Place Hotel on 3234 West Montague Ave near the Charleston Area Convention Center.
"Shank parked the car and walked their two dogs while his wife went into the hotel," officials with Crime Stoppers say."Shank was shot outside of their car at approximately 12:30 am and stumbled toward the front door of the hotel and collapsed, where his wife found him and called 911."
Authorities say Shank was talking when police arrived.
A report by Crime Stoppers states when police asked who shot him, he said, "I have no idea."
Shank died shortly after he arrived at MUSC Trauma Center.
"Several witnesses told investigators that they heard a pop and saw a vehicle leave the scene," officials said.
"If you know something about this case, something you saw or heard, such as a person or persons running from the parked car or a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed, or over heard a conversation about someone saying they shot a man in a parking lot, you may have a missing piece of the puzzle. Even if you think that the police already have the information call it in anyways. Please call Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111 if you have any information about this case. You could earn a $9,500 Cash Reward."
Additionally, the North Charleston Police Department is offering a separate $30,000 reward for information that is called to their department.
