NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Sen. Tim Scott was at the North Charleston Convention Center Saturday afternoon to host a ceremony honoring veterans of Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield.

Scott said that both were critical campaigns for freedom, and that it was an honor to meet South Carolinian veterans.

Veterans at the event said it felt good to be honored for a conflict that often gets overlooked.

"A lot of times with the VA and other Honor events, I see that Desert Shield and Desert Storm vets are left out," said Roy McIntosh, a veteran."And this let's me know that we're not left out."

Scott has hosted similar events for veterans of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
