CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials say two fugitives who arrived in Charleston on a cruise ship from the Bahamas were arrested on drug charges.

Officers arrested 28-year-old Otto Witherspoon of North Charleston and 37-year-old Keshanda Mazyck of St.Stephen.

Witherspoon is wanted for distribution of cocaine, while Mazyck is wanted for narcotics possession.

According to CBP officials, Witherspoon was turned over to the North Charleston Police Department.

Mazyck was given over to the Bonneau Police Department.

Authorities say the individuals did not know each other and were traveling in separate parties.

"As the nation's border security agency, Customs and Border Protection at times encounters travelers with outstanding arrest warrants and works to return them to the jurisdiction that initiated their criminal charges," said Charleston Area Port Director Robert Fencel. "We work closely and effectively with our local and state law enforcement partners to accomplish that mission together."
