BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - An aerial mosquito abatement is scheduled for Wednesday in southern Berkeley County

According to county officials, the abatement is in response to a large salt-marsh mosquito hatch-off.

"Berkeley County Mosquito Abatement announced today that they will be spraying, by aircraft, on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 in Southern Berkeley County," officials said. "In order to avoid children departing for school, the aerial application on Wednesday will be made from 6:30PM to 8:30PM."

A press release states the specific areas being sprayed include over Daniel Island, Thomas Island, the Clouter Creek and Yellow House Dredge Disposal Sites, and the areas adjacent to Clements Ferry Road.

"If unfavorable weather conditions exist on Wednesday, the applications will be made on Saturday, September 17th from 7:00AM to 9:00AM.  If residents have any questions or concerns, they are asked to contact Berkeley County Mosquito Abatement directly at (843) 719-4646."
