NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A Dorchester County sheriff's deputy has been fired after police say he solicited sex from an undercover officer.
North Charleston Police arrested Deputy Jason Mitchell at a motel Friday night.
According to an incident report, Mitchell contacted the undercover cop by phone after seeing a post on Backpage.com. The officer asked the deputy to meet her at a motel on Ashley Phosphate Road, the report states.
Mitchell arrived at the officer's motel room shortly after 7:30 p.m. They started a conversation, according to the report.
A few minutes later, Mitchell agreed to the performance of sex in exchange for $80, the report states.
Officers waiting in an adjoining room arrested the deputy and charged him with prostitution.
Mitchell was transported to the Charleston County Detention Center.
The report states the incident was captured on audio and video recordings.
Dorchester County Sheriff's Major Tony Phinney says Mitchell has been fired.
Phinney says Mitchell had been with the agency for about three months and was in training.
