MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - A Mount Pleasant man has been charged in connection to a fatal accident that took the life of a Summerville man on the Ravenel Bridge.

Officers arrested 43-year-old Andrew Peter Sweisfurth on Tuesday morning on a warrant for reckless homicide.

The Nov. 18 incident took the life of 37-year-old Nicholas Weiler who was driving a moped.

Investigators say Sweisfurth was in a car headed south on the bridge when he collided into the rear of the moped causing the driver of the moped to be ejected.

A report states the moped driver then crashed into the windshield of the car and onto the ground.

Authorities had shut down all southbound lanes of the Ravenel bridge following the accident.

Motorists reported that they were directed to turn around, using a lane reversal, and drive back into Mount Pleasant as road crews worked the incident scene.
