Police: 4 arrested in Carolina Bay vehicle break-ins
Charleston Police are responding to a four-car crash in West Ashley.

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Four men have been arrested in connection to a series of vehicle break-ins in the Carolina Bay neighborhood.

Joseph Gabe, Jr., 20, of Adams Run; Bernard Garlington, Jr., 19, of North Charleston; Eric Mitchell, 19, of North Charleston; and Maurice Sanders, 17, of Ridgeville, are all charged with breaking into a motor vehicle, Charleston Police spokesman Charles Francis said.

Police say a call to Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch at approximately 3:15 a.m. Thursday about two men breaking into cars in an alley near Gammons Street and Groverhurst Drive led to a traffic stop of a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed.

One of the four men in that vehicle was arrested because he was wanted by Mount Pleasant Police, Francis said.

But that traffic stop led investigators to execute a search warrant at a home on Savage Road and later arrest the three other men who had been in the stopped vehicle as well as a fourth man for breaking into a vehicle in Carolina Bay, Francis said.

Francis said police received a call at approximately 7:30 a.m. Thursday about an iPad and iPhone stolen from an unlocked vehicle. The stolen devices were found at the Savage Road home where the vehicle that had been stopped earlier that morning was parked, he said.

They were being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center.
