Man identified in double-vehicle wreck involving pedestrian

MONCKS CORNER, SC (WCSC) - Troopers with the SCHP say they are investigating a fatal wreck that involved a pedestrian.

Alfonso Carlos Cruz-Rivera, 35, was pronounced dead on the scene by Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.

The wreck occurred on Highway 17A near Garcia Lane.

A Toyota mini-van was traveling north on Highway 17A, when a pedestrian wearing dark clothing attempted to cross the street, SCHP said.

Once the pedestrian was struck by the van, they were then struck again by a GMC Jimmy, they said.
