CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston Police say a church member entered a wrong security code, mistakenly setting off a burglar alarm at Mother Emanuel AME Church Tuesday morning.

Police said a church member was trying to get into the church but did not have her glasses when she attempted to enter a security code.

Dispatchers said the call came in at 7:36 a.m. and reported one unit was on the scene with a keyholder to the historic church.

The church, founded in 1816, is the oldest African Methodist Episcopal church in the southern United States, according to the church's website.
