Cops: Armed robber attacks veteran, takes SUV at Summerville neighborhood

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Investigators are searching for an armed robber who assaulted a veteran and stole his SUV at a neighborhood in Summerville.

It happened Monday night at a home on Driver Avenue near Boonehill Road.

The 51-year-old victim said as he was walking out of his front door someone struck him on the side of his face and pushed him in the back.

He said he then saw a man armed with a gun who threatened to shoot him if he didn't give him the keys to his SUV.

According to police, when the victim attempted to reach for a security alarm panel, the suspect threatened to shoot him again.

The victim said he then gave the suspect the keys to his vehicle.

When the victim attempted to see where the suspect was going with his SUV, he said the suspect pointed the gun at him again, so the victim went back inside his house.

The vehicle is a white 2006 Nissan Pathfinder with MA license plate tags 569CE9.

The victim said the vehicle has Iraq War stickers on both the rear passenger vent windows. Friends said the victim is a veteran.

Police say the victim had minor swelling to his right face.

The victim described the suspect as a black male, 6-foot, 130 to 135 pounds, between 19 and 24 years old, with a thin mustache. He was last seen wearing black pants and a black hoodie.
