COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say two people have been charged for failing to report the alleged sexual assault involving a child by a Colleton County preacher.
Christyne Lehr surrendered to authorities in Colleton County Tuesday morning, and her husband, Eric Lehr, turned himself over to an agent with SLED Thursday morning in Dorchester County.
Each faces a charge of unlawful neglect of a child.
The charges are in connection with alleged Colleton County cult leader Ralph Stair. The 85-year-old is currently facing several charges of sexual misconduct.
The couple's charges stem from an investigation where a victim reported she was sexually assaulted by Stair on August 2017.
According to the victim, when she reported it to Christyne Lehr, Lehr told the child "not to worry about it."
Court records state that in September 2017 Eric Lehr was made aware that the victim was sexually assaulted, and denied investigators access to the victim.
