Students charged after two handguns found at West Ashley Middle School
Two West Ashley Middle School students are facing criminal charges after administrators found two handguns in a student's locker Friday.

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Two West Ashley Middle School students are facing criminal charges after administrators found two handguns in a student's locker Friday.

At around 1:00 p.m., school administrators received information that there was a firearm on campus, according to Charleston Police Department spokesperson Charles Francis. The school was placed on code yellow lockdown and the students involved were removed from their classrooms.

A book bag containing the two handguns were found inside a locker. One of the handguns were reportedly loaded,

The 14-year-old boys are charged with possession of a firearm on a school campus.

One of the students reportedly took the handguns from his home.

The investigation is ongoing.
