CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - NFL defensive ends and Lowcountry natives Carlos Dunlap (Cincinnati Bengals) and Robert Quinn (Miami Dolphins) held their annual Lowcountry football and cheerleading camp Saturday at Fort Dorchester High School.

More than 250 kids participated in drills and activities. The two former Fort Dorchester Patriots were joined on the field by other NFL standouts, including Goose Creek product Brandon Shell.

Part of the reason the guys love putting on the camp is because they didn't get opportunities like this when they were kids.

''We didn't have this coming up when we were here," said Shell. "Now with the pros coming back and showing the kids love and showing them that dreams can come true..it's a good feeling.''

Dunlap added, "I didn't know what I was going to become when I was in school at their age. I never met a professional athlete. I didn't want it to be like that for the next generation because the next generation is our future."
