Bishop England Battling Bishops

Head coach: John Cantey (11th season)

2017 Record: 8-4

Returning Starters: 2

Key Newcomers: James Busche (OL, Sr.), Will Daniel (QB, So.), Sawyer Thompson (DB, Jr.), Jarren McCoy (S/RB, Jr.), Michael Long (RB/OLB, So.), Charlie Michel (DB/RB, Jr.)

Outlook: This is a unique situation for Bishop England this year: they've only got two starters coming back. "It's a brand new start for us," head coach John Cantey remarked. "We're going to have some growing pains." The Bishops graduated 22 seniors last year, several of whom saw success on multiple fields. One of those was quarterback Leo Albano who's now a preferred walk-on at Notre Dame.

Hanahan Hawks

Head coach: David Morbitzer (1st season)

2017 Record: 4-8

Returning Starters: 10-11 approximately

Newcomers: Gale Ball (RB, Sr.), Tyree Drayton (NG, Jr.)

Outlook: There's a new leader for the Hawks program. David Morbitzer is taking over as head coach after Charlie Patterson left. "We want to set a foundation," states Morbitzer. "We want to be a dominant program, getting everything in order. We've been really trying to rebuild the work ethic." The Hawks will be turning to senior Gale Ball to tote the rock after star athlete Quincy Mitchell graduated and moved on to the track program at the University of Cincinnati.

Academic Magnet Raptors

Head coach: Steve Kamp (2nd season)

2017 Record: 3-6

Top Returners: Steven Schlosser (RB, Sr.), Jack Patterson (LB, Jr.), Will Jordan (QB, Jr.)

Outlook: The Raptors are looking to bounce back after an up-and-down 2017 campaign. One bright spot for Steve Kamp's crew will be the return of one of the best all-around athletes in the area in Steven Schlosser. The do-it-all back tallied more than 1,500 total yards last season and was tied for second in total tackles. Leading tackler Jack Patterson is also back for AcMag.
