JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - James Island officials now have a lot more room to move around after moving into a new town hall.
The building is 6,000 square feet and is more than double the size of the space of the old building.
In January of 2016, the council voted to build the $4 million town hall on the property on Dills Bluff behind First Baptist Church on Camp Road.
The land cost $500,000, construction costs totaled $2.7 million and the rest was spent on design and technology.
The design of the building aims to make a more inviting space for people who live on the island to interact with elected officials.
A public open house is scheduled for Aug. 30.
