SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Cleaning storm drains isn't typically part of a police officer's duties, but Summerville officer Angie Elmore recently decided to help out residents in one Summerville neighborhood.

Summerville fire chief Richard Waring sent an email to police chief Jon Rogers, detailing his experience with Elmore last week while a large amount of rain fell across the Lowcountry.

Waring told Rogers he was out checking flood-prone areas of town when he saw Elmore in the water trying to make sure the storm drains were clear. She also calmed residents as the water approached their house.

A retired Summerville officer also snapped a photo of Elmore in action and sent it to town officials.
