GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Wednesday marks the first day of school for students in the Georgetown County School District. Those who attend Waccamaw High School will notice a new principal.

Adam George was previously an english teacher at Georgetown High School and Georgetown Middle School. He also spent five years as the assistant principal at Andrews High School.

He joined the administration at Waccamaw in 2016.

"I'm really excited to get started here in the 2018-19 school year," Adam George said. "I'm looking forward to a fantastic year and I'm ready to work with students, staff and the community."

Originally from Indiana, George now makes his home on Pawley's Island. He replaces David Hammel as the school's principal.
