GEORGETOWN COUTY, SC (WCSC) - The South Carolina Highway Patrol says a crash on flooded roadway killed one person early Sunday.

The crash happened at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Plantersville Road, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol Cpl. Sonny Collins.

A pickup truck was traveling south when it struck standing water, Collins said. The driver lost control and the truck overturned, he said.

Troopers say the driver and one passenger were transported to an area hospital but a second passenger died in the crash.

The Georgetown County Coroner's Office has not yet released the name of the passenger who died.
