SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Emergency officials say Deming Way off of Highway 78 in Summerville has been re-opened. Authorities had shut down Deming Way after a truck carrying portable toilets rolled over and spilled some of its contents around 12:43 p.m.

Officials with the Old Fort Fire Department say they were able to stop the leak from the vehicle.

Authorities say it appears that the incident also involved another truck which was carrying a trailer. Pictures from the scene showed damage to the side of the trailer.

According to fire department officials, the driver of the truck that rolled over was transported to the hospital. Assistant Fire Chief Joe Waters said the driver appeared to be conscious after crews rescued him from the vehicle.

Motorists had reported that the truck was attempting to turn onto Deming Way when it flipped.

DHEC also responded to the scene, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.

Nearby businesses and motorists reported a strong odor from the area following the accident.
