SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Motorists along I-26 helped a couple after their car caught fire on I-26 in Summerville Thursday afternoon.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the incident happened on the westbound lanes in the area of mile marker 198.
Thomas Glick was traveling with a friend eastbound on I-26 when he saw the incident.
"I was headed eastbound back into Charleston from working Upstate when I noticed a large plume of grey smoke on the westbound side of I-26 at mile marker 198," Glick said.
Glick said he saw another motorist stop and help a woman out of the vehicle.
According to Glick, at least four other people came to assist the people in the car.
