Man faces 2 charges after Charleston Police investigate reported fight, gunshots

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The Charleston Police Department has charged one man after responding to a call reporting “fighting and gunshots” Saturday morning.

Joseph Spencer Hiers, 32, has been charged with first-degree assault and battery and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

Officers say they were dispatched to this call on Stinson Drive around 12:50 a.m. Saturday.

Charleston Police Sgt. Terry Cherry says a suspect’s vehicle was identified and stopped by officers. They then arrested and charged one of the people in the car.

Hiers is being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center under a $55,000 bond.
