Teen dies after DUI driver slams into her car at traffic light on July Fourth holiday, troopers say
GREENVILLE, S.C. (WHNS/Gray News) - South Carolina officials say a Fourth of July crash involving a 15-year-old has turned deadly.
Greenville County authorities said they were called to the intersection of Old Easley Bridge and White Horse roads around 8:30 p.m. on July 4 for reports of a collision.
Troopers said the driver of a Jeep Cherokee disregarded a traffic signal at the intersection and hit a Toyota Camry head-on.
Five people were in the Camry, including 15-year-old Chasity Unique Nelson.

According to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, Nelson was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital for her injuries, but she ultimately died on Tuesday.
The coroner ruled her death an accident due to blunt force trauma.
Four other victims in the Camry were also injured. Family members confirmed Quinn Hellams and Deashia Cruell are hospitalized after the crash. Cruell remains in the ICU, her family said.
Troopers said the driver of the Jeep, Kevin Clinton Harrison, was initially hospitalized with injuries. He was booked into the Greenville County Detention Center on Wednesday on four counts of felony DUI with great bodily injury and one count of felony DUI involving death.
Harrison is expected to appear in bond court on Thursday afternoon.
